Abstract

Hemangiopericytoma arises from the Zimmerman cells located around vessels. It has both benign and malignant forms. Primary pulmonary hemangiopericytoma is rare and comprises only 10% of all hemangiopericytomas. Primary pulmonary hemangiopericytoma is frequently asymptomatic until the tumor has become large. We present a case evaluated with conventional radiological methods and chest CT. A seventy year old man presented with a productive cough and hoarseness showing a large peripheral tumor in his left lung on his chest X-ray. Complete excision of the tumor was performed. Post operative FDG-PET did not show any pathological involvement. The patient is presently being followed up.
