Introduction: Primary lung carcinoid tumors usually present with respiratory signs due to endobronchial localization. An interesting case was presented which has bronchiectasis due to tumor obstruction.
Case Presentation: A 35-year-old male patient was admitted to another clinic with a complaint of coughing and the right central lobe bronchiectasis and the endobronchial nodular lesion that completely obstructed the lumen in the right intercostal space were detected. The patient underwent lower lobectomy via right thoracotomy. On the persistence of the nodular lesion originating from the medial segment of the right middle lobe, the patient applied to our outpatient clinic. Biopsy result revealed a carcinoid tumor, so a videothoracoscopic mid-lobectomy was performed upon this result. The patient was discharged without any problems postoperatively.
Conclusion: Carcinoid tumors are commonly located in the bronchus and are slow-progressive tumors among all primary pulmonary malignencies. It is a rare condition that causes bronchiectasis by obstructing the entrance of the lower lobe.
