Abstract

Although bone metastasis is frequently observed during the course of malignant diseases, metastatic tumors of the hands and foots are quite rare. In our clinic, a 67 years old male who was diagnosed as having non-small cell lung cancer was re-evaluated before the first planned chemotherapy, because of pain, swelling and tenderness in the fifth finger of right hand and in the left ankle. In the hand and foot radiographs, lytic bone lesions were observed in the fifth midphalanx of right hand and in the talus bone of left ankle. Bone scan was also showed increased uptake in both location. After the systemic chemotherapy and palliative radiotherapy for left ankle, the symptoms resolved clearly and he has still under follow up of for 8 months.
