Abstract
Diabetes mellitus causes a basal membrane thickness, a decrease in lung elasticity and neuropathy, which in turn partially affects basic lung functions. Because of the cellular and humoral immunity defects in diabetic patients, acute and chronic lung infections are frequently seen in these patients.
