Abstract

The word pneumoconiosis literally means dust in the lungs. Since not all dusts deposited in the lungs cause a disease, a more widely accepted definition is that of the International Labour Office (ILO), which states that “pneumoconiosis is the accumulation of dust in the lungs and the tissue reaction to its presence”. With a history of exposure to this type of dust and a chest x-ray consistent with the diagnosis of pneumoconiosis, no further diagnostic procedures are necessary. The ILO classification system should be used for interp - retation of the chest radiographs. In this review, different practical approaches to the radiograms in pneumoconiosis in our country and different countries was discussed.
